Product Description
This monumental amethyst formation from Brazil is one of the most impressive forms a geode can take. Two large, symmetrical crystal halves open like wings, together forming the silhouette of a butterfly. With a height of around 170 cm and a total weight of 203 kg, this piece immediately commands attention in any room.
The inner surfaces are densely covered with thousands of amethyst crystals, whose play of colors ranges from delicate violet to deep purple. The wide rim of light chalcedony and agate frames the crystal surfaces, revealing the geode's original structure. This natural structure enhances the impression of outstretched wings and gives the formation exceptional depth.
Such butterfly shapes are created when a large amethyst geode is opened and its two halves are presented as mirror images of each other. This reveals the internal crystal landscape, which has formed over millions of years in volcanic cavities.
Amethyst belongs to the quartz family and gets its violet color from iron traces in the crystal lattice as well as natural geological processes during its formation. The fine crystal tips reflect light with varying intensity, revealing new nuances depending on the viewing angle.
Due to its size, clear wing shape, and intense crystal structure, this piece acts as a natural sculpture. Such large-format formations are valued worldwide by collectors, interior designers, and galleries because they uniquely combine mineralogy and spatial impact.
