Effect

Effect

Amethyst has been prized for centuries as a stone of calm, clarity and inner harmony. Many people associate it with an atmosphere of concentration and balance, particularly in rooms where one wishes to unwind or focus.

Crystal structure

Crystal structure

Amethyst belongs to the quartz group and forms in a hexagonal crystal structure. This structure is responsible for the characteristic, sharply defined crystal tips, which often grow as slender prisms with pyramid-shaped ends. It is precisely this geometric order that develops deep within rock cavities, where mineral-rich solutions crystallise layer by layer over a long period of time.

Origin

Origin

Our amethysts come from selected mines in Brazil and Uruguay, regions renowned worldwide for their particularly high-quality and intensely coloured deposits. Uruguay in particular is prized for its deep, clear shades of violet, whilst Brazil produces a wide variety of shapes and textures.

Hardness

Hardness

Amethyst belongs to the quartz family of minerals and has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. This makes it one of the more durable natural stones, and it is well suited for decorative items, collectibles and everyday use in the home.

Pink Amethyst Obelisk

Meaning: Pink Amethyst Obelisk

Pink amethyst is a rare variety of classic amethyst and, like the latter, belongs to the quartz mineral group. As with all amethysts, its characteristic colour is caused by iron within the crystal lattice. Whilst natural radiation produces deep violet hues in classic amethyst, in pink amethyst, additional finely distributed inclusions of haematite and goethite result in the typical rose-coloured to soft violet shades.

Despite its lighter colouring, it is therefore clearly genuine amethyst from a mineralogical perspective; only the composition and distribution of the trace elements differ.

Pink amethyst forms over millions of years within volcanic rock structures and is found in only a few regions of the world. It is precisely this combination of rarity, subtle colour gradients and the often particularly clear, open crystal structure that makes it so special. Compared to classic amethyst, pink amethyst often appears softer and lighter in its radiance, without losing any of its depth. The combination of delicate colours and natural crystal structure gives each piece a presence all of its own, which changes constantly depending on the light.
